Karen gasped and dropped th device. It had just talked to her. She closed it and put it in her lap. That was odd and she wanted to move on again, but there was one last thing to take care of. She pulled the two Pokeballs out of her coat pocket and released the Pokemon inside. The first was the Eevee. He snorted and tilted his head to the side. He looked like he wasn't happy with her, but remained where he was. The other was a small brown shell with legs sticking from under it. It scuttled around for a moment, then spat out a small fizzle of bubbles. These were her new Pokemon. Karen needed to name them. "...... Dev." She pointed to the Eevee, who flicked his ear like he was annoyed. He must not have liked that name. To bad for him. "And....... Mattie." The shell- crab spat out another foam of bubbles. It looked like it liked it's name better, but it was sort of hard to tell. Karen packed everything back into her pack and started to get up when...... [/ul]

Safe. That was what he was. Safe. They all were. Apparentlly. Humans walked through everyday, and occasionally they would make the effort to catch those pokemon around them, but still if they didn't venture too close they were safe. That was what his home was. Safe, protected. Boring. Stay near the nest, near the tree where you won't be seen. That was how they lived, not wanting to be caught, to remain in their peacful haven forever. He didn't want that. Huamns, they seemed fascinating, yet most who passed through were weak, with only one pokemon. He watched them from the tree, curious, yet not wanting to risk it. Not wanting to be caught by a weak trainer. He wanted a trainer, someone who would take him on an adventure, let him grow stronger, to fly free from the boring place. However they had be strong. No-one else was deserving of him. That was why as he watched yet another trainer his curiosty was peaked. She had not one but two pokemon, both ones he had never seen before. Did that make her strong, or just lucky? Stretching his wings the bird pokemon let out a low squak before lifting from his tree and diving towards the girl, skimming over her pokemon before land in fronting of her, feather puffed out to look bigger than he really was, and wings out in a challenge. The Taillow would see how strong she was, whether she was worthy of him. A wild pokemon appeared.Taillowlv.4

MattieLv:5 Type: Rock/Water Gender: Female Personality: Quiet//to be edited later Moves: Scratch;; Harden;; Icy Wind;; Karen didn't know what to think of the little bird. It had squawked loudly at her, making her jump, then flew down close- by. It was puffed and fluffed up and chirped belligerently. It was a nice find, since she loved Flying Types. It was also a nice time to test out her Pokemon's abilities. The Eevee was nice, but the crab would be better for this. Problem was, she didn't know any of it's moves. AliciaBOT beeped from her pocket. She opened it, and it had a read through of Dev's, Mattie's, and the birds information. It was a Tailow. It's moves were locked out, but it showed Mattie's and Dev's on screen. Good. And it looked like the crab would be even better suited for this battle that expected. It was partially Rock Type, and it had an Egg Move that was strong against Flying. "Mattie, fight." Mattie jumped up, bubbles still foaming from it's mouth, and scuttled over. It clicked and sputtered like it was ready. "Icy Wind." The bubbles stopped and it stood still. A few moments later, a fierce breeze spouted out of her mouth, heading straight for the Tailow. If blew back some and Karen could feel the chill bite at her skin. A few of the closer leaves in the tree turned white, and all of the grass in front of Mattie was coated in ice. A good start to her first battle as a new Trainer. [/ul]

The Taillow squawked impatiently as the girl messed around with the black device in her hand. He had graced her with his presence, and she wasn't even looking at him. He knew humans were too stupid to understand pokemon, but still she should have been able to tell she was in the presence of one of the best pokemon in the area.
He was beginning to let out another protestful squawk when the girl spoke, seemingly to one of her pokemon, telling it to fight. The Taillow bristled it's feathers in anticpation, and spread it's wings wider. It would beat the weird pokemon that had moved towards it and show her how strong he was, and how lucky she was to have him consider joining her.
He beat his wings, begin to take off when a blast of cold,no, freezing, wind hit him, knocking him back to the floor, at the same time partially coating his wings in frost. Letting out a weak warble the bird pokemon got back to it's feet shivering slightly, the blow obviously badly effecting it. Still it managed a quiet angry squawk. The crab had cheated. He hadn't been ready. Taht was it. That was why he'd been knocked down. Caught off guard, nothing more.
Determined to show it was nothing more than a slip up the bird took to the air again, though it's flight was a bit shakey due to it's wings being numb, and it being injured by the previous attack. Gaining altitude it took a deep breath, drawing on a move it had learned recently. Focus Energy.
Feeling stronger, somehow, Taillow moved back to the ground, its beak outstretched, aiming to hit his opponent on the head. Or at least where he guessed the head would be if it had a head, instead of a shell. Peck. It was the only attack move it knew, but it was still effective, nonetheless.

She had expected this Pokemon to fall after a move like that. Even with it's wings frosted with ice, it forced itself into the air. She watched as it's body stiffened then relaxed, a few shards of ice falling to the ground. It landed on Mattie's head and pecked at her eyes and face. Mattie was defenseless against it; she may have had a tough shell, but she was slow and not very flexible. Even so, she didn't think it did as much as it would have done if Mattie wasn't part Rock. Karen didn't give Mattie the order, to, but she stiffened up her body and Hardened it. Karen grunted at her disobedience, but otherwise said nothing; she wanted to see if Mattie could take it from here. After using that, Mattie shook herself left and right, trying to shake the bird off. When that failed, she lifted up a great claw and tried to Scratch it. --- I feel kinda bad about this being so short, but I'm in a rush. >.< [/ul]

It wasn't going to be as simple as hitting the crab on the head. The Taillow figured that out as soon as it started its attack, yet the bird kept going, even when he felt the shell get even stronger underneath his beak. As the pokemon beneath him began to shake he gripped on, determined that despite it's weak state he would break through and win. He wasn't going to let some random pokemon beat him. The flying type was so desperate to hold on it didn't notice the claw that was raised, even when it moved towards him. A surprised squawk escaped it's beak as it was hit. Already unbalanced from the shaking the attack knocked it off it's opponent shell and onto the floor. Struggling it once again attempted to get up. To be beaten after two attacks...it didn't want to give up, yet even as he darkness came over it realised it had underestimated the crab, and the powerful move it had used at the start. Silently as his thoughts began to fade, he wondered if the girl would help him get as strong. Taillow fainted. It may be caught.{It's fine. Rules say you only need a paragraph. And rushes are annoying...}

The bird's wing twitched as the Kabuto attempted to have lunch, but otherwise it remained still, completely unconcious. Which was probably a good thing, as it wouldn't have been pleased at being seen as nothing more than a snack by the one that had beaten it. As it was sucked into the ball it stirred slightly, but was still unaware of what was going on. As it dissapeared the ball rested on the ground, and gave a feeble shake before the light turned off, announcing the pokemon's capture. Karen caught a pokemonTaillowlv.4Type: Flying Gender: Male Personality: This bird has a very large ego. On either side of the trainer the grass swayed from side to side calmly, and small noises of pokemon going about their buisness could be heard. A couple of cautious pokemon had witnessed the battle, and captire, and watched catiously from afar, but at the moment it appeared nothing was was going to happen.

path, and seemed very close by. Normally this wouldn't be something of interest to Karen, but traveling there would be worthwhile- she could see Pokemon frittering and fluttering around a colorful van. After a hop, skip and a jump, she was hiding in the bushes nearby. People milled about, but she was behind the van, and they in front. It was obvious now that this group of people were performers of some sort, who had camped here for the time. Some big blue metal Pokemon, along with many small blue ones, hovered over a rim of twenty or more eggs that were circled around a small fire. A stray Pokeball, full from the look of it, was laying nearby. If she timed it right, maybe she could.... A gap in supervision from the blue Pokemon. Karen dashed out of her hiding spot, making a wide arc. She snatched up the Pokeball, and nabbed two of the eggs. That went very well. In a few more minutes, maybe she could try again and..... "Bel Bel Dum Dum Bel." One of the smaller blue Pokemon pushed one of the eggs out of her grasp and onto the ground. It took no notice of her, didn't even seem to care she had just stolen it, and tried to roll it back to the pile. Karen quickly shoved the other egg into her pouch, then snatched the first away and shoved it in as well. The little blue Pokemon make a metallic sound and lightly hit her hand. It got to close to Dev, who had been in the bushes this entire time, and he hissed at it. The blue Pokemon whipped round and looked at him. It seemed angry, but then noticed Dev's flipping tail. Karen took this opportunity to run. She snatched Dev up and ran with him. One Pokemon and two eggs was a pretty good haul. If you counted Dev from earlier, that was four in one day. Heck, that might even be some kind of record for a solo Grunt who just got her first Pokemon not a few hours before. She ran as fast as she could, but a sharp and sudden pain in her back both shocked her and made her fall down. She yelled loudly in surprise. So loud that she feared someone nearby would hear. It was the blue Pokemon. She pulled a ball out of her pocket and flung it at it. She just wanted more time to run, but it managed to capture. She shoved the ball into her pocket and stood again, swiftly walking away from the caravan's campsite. Boy, she hoped no one heard her. Or worse, saw..... [/ul]

Alex sighed to himself as he ran a hand through his green hair. This wasn't what he had expected when he'd set out on his pokemon journey. Fame, glory, money... that was what he had wanted. Instead he had wasted all his money on various things, and he was stuck in the area, unable to afford potions and food, therfore unable to go forward. So now he was stuck with the caravan as an escort in order to get some money. Why they felt they needed one in the first place he didn't know, nor did he really care. Still he wished it wasn't as boring as it currently was... As he walked to where the performers kept their eggs, he realised something looked off. The Beldum and Metang set on guard were whizzing around, looking slightly distressed at something. Then he noticed two gaps in the arrangement of eggs, and the fact the number of beldum was one less than usual... His first thought was that he was just overeacting, and that there was no-one around who would even consider stealing eggs, when suddenly he heard a yell. That of a girl's. Forgetting the eggs, the chance to rescue a girl and gain her favour easily replacing the thought of them, he draw one of his pokeballs and began running towards the noise. As he reached where he guess it had come from his saw a red flash, but by the time he reached the site, all he saw was a girl beggining to walk away. Dissapointed that there seemed to be no trouble, but still deciding not to give up this chance to flirt and skirt his duties he called out to her. "Hey Miss!" He began to jog, swiftly running a had through his hair to neaten it as he waved. "I could help but hear a yell. Is anything the matter, that I can help with?" He grinned at her as he eyes roamed her body, befor falling on her bag, which looked somewhat bulky. Suddenly the image of the gaps in the nest came back to the front of the mind. It wasn't possible, was it...? There had also been the flash and the missing Beldum... a part of him tild him to ignore it and that he was overthinking, but at the same time his instincts where tellking hi something was wrong. "Miss, I'm sorry but do you mind showing me your bag. I am an escort for a caravan near here, and some eggs where recently taken" As he spoke he gripped his pokeball tighter. If she had stolen the eggs, there was ging to be only one way for him to get them back. [/ul]
