Aside from being the place where people went to wait for death, it also held the only legal Pokemon Lab in the Region. She passed many people, some much younger than her, cradling young Pokemon. Most were uninteresting, and she was much to close too other people to steal them.

The edge of town loomed ahead. A little path - the kind you would only spot if you knew it was there- was right ahead of her. She glanced over her shoulder and ducked into it. Farther down this path she would find a winding path on a cliff, which would just be big enough for herself. She was almost to it when a noise to her right started her. She turned to look, and saw a boy a little bit away. He had his back to her, and she was hidden in the shadows. An unguarded bag lay close by. Would it be worth it? Only one way to find out.

She slipped closer. A little brown fox Pokemon was asleep on the bag. It looked young, just like the one's she had seen on the road. A single Pokeball rested next to it. Jackpot. If Karen knew nothing else, she knew a Rare Pokemon when she seen one. She snatched the ball shoved it in her jacket pocket, then picked up the Pokemon. It yawned and flicked it's long ear, but otherwise didn't seem to mind; it must not have known it was being stolen. Karen slid back into the shadows and was just descending the cliff path when she heard the new Trainer return.

"I could have sworn I seen a Charmeleon.... Hey, where's my Eevee?"

She scratched the Eevee between the ears, the called it into the Pokeball and she entered a small cavern in the rocks; these scientists were low on Pokemon, so if they saw she had one, they would either take it or refuse to give her another. For the most part the cavern was empty, but as she traveled deeper, all sorts of monstrous machines littered the space. As small sign, which looked sloppily made and was hanging by a single corner, hung above a semi- flat rock. It ushered people who were here to get a Pokemon to wait there. Karen inwardly sighed, then went and sat down.

[Dusk]

As the girl walked through the caverns, it would have been difficult for her to notice she was being watched. If she'd been paying atention a small scampering sound may have been heard, a flash of grey and black seen as whoever was watching her rushed off.

A couple of minutes later a grumbling noise could be heard as someone came closer. "What's the point of having a helper if they refuse to talk to most people?" The question, while spoken allowed, appeared not to be directed to anyone as the speaker finally appeared.

Doctor Onyx towered over the sitting girl, and for a minute just studied her, before giving a sniff and beginning to walk away. "I suppose you're one of those recruits they keep sending for pokemon?" He asked, without looking back, as if he didn't care whethe or not he got an answer. "Come with me, and don't fall behind"

As he walked to another part of the cavern, a black and grey joined him, walking at his side. As they continued, he spoke, seemingly to the pokemon. "Why couldn't they have chosen one of the other labs? WHo cares if we're close to the first town, I've got other work to do, like sorting through those reports about that charmeleon. Those idiots out there probably don't even realise what it could be" His talking dissolved into rambling until they finally reached a messed up desk.

"Girl. Whats your name?"

[/color] She thought to add that she was already an Obsidian member, but she knew she wouldn't be able to form the words in time. It was difficult for her. Her mind was just to fast for her mouth, and that made everything confused.[/size]

[Dusk]

As he asked the girl's name the Professor had brought up a list of Obsidian members, ready to type in the name she said. Except she didn't say anything. He turned to her, an irritated expression on his face, as Mightyena stood up and walked away from them.

However when she finally did say her name name an amused expression flickered onto his face. "Karen huh?" His eyes glanced around, as if trying to find someone on the mess, before he turned back to the computer, and typed in her number. As it came up with an obsidian profile he nodded to himself. It saved time, it meant he only had to hack her into the trainers register.

As he began typing Mightyena came back carrying a bag, which was dumped unceremoniously at the girl's feet, before he walked back to his trainer.

"That's your starter kit" once again the Doctor didn't turn around as he finished putting in details, and picked up a black device lieing next to the computer. "This is your pokedex. It's customised for Obsidian. Keep it on you" He threw it too her, then began to walk away again, to a drawer. Opening it he grabbed a random pokeball and once again threw it at her. " And that's your pokemon. Now if you have no other problems, I've got work to do" Already he was walking off, apparently not caring if she did have problems, or not, Mightyena walking by his side.
