Posting mine in a seperate thread, due to how long the post turned out to be.
Username: Dusk
Character Name: Katelyn
Legendary Wanted:Articuno
Example Post: Enraged cries rang through the entire cavern, loud enough to be heard by those approaching it through the series of tunnels that connected the cave complex. Every now and then the noise would stop as the culprit of the shrieks tried to attack the metal bars surrounding them, stopping them from being free.
Standing taller than some the scientists that braved the racket to study it, the large bird pokémon could only open its blue wings partially before they touched either side of its prison. The top the cage was only a few inches higher than its head, causing the crown of dark blue feathers it possessed to brush against the bars, ruffling them. It’s long tail feathers that would normally trail behind it as it flew where curled around it’s legs to prevent them from going outside the cage.
Despite its general dishevelled appearance due to being imprisoned, to Katelyn it was one of the most beautiful pokémon she’d ever seen. Entering the cavern, having come from the main recruitment cavern, she stopped still as she saw the bird pokémon, watching as it struggled to get free.
Yet another victim to Obsidian’s plans, she knew the chance of the pokémon getting free now that it was in Obsidians claws were close to 0. It would be kept in the cage till it was broken, then passed to a deserving member and made to take part in the Teams plans, whether it wanted to or not.
Forcing herself to look away as guilt began to build up she walked to where a dark haired man was standing. He was dressed in a black suit, and as she approached her turned around, revealing the white mask he was wearing. Spotting her he nodded, before speaking. “Katelyn. If you are here then you must have received your starter. I trust it is satisfactory, and not one of those useless things the Doctor sometimes gives out?”
“Yes Sir” Katelyn stopped as she replied, bowing her head to the man in front of her, before holding up the pokéball she had recently acquired. “And yes, it will be useful”
“Good. I am pleased” he man turned away again, looking back to the caged pokémon who was still trying to break free. There was a pause as he just watched, before finally speaking again. “You’re wondering why I delayed your journey, and called you here, aren’t you?”
“Yes Sir” When she’d been told he wanted to see her she’d been surprised. He rarely talked to her directly, using Obsidian members as go betweens.
“Do you know what this is?” He pointed to the pokémon in front of them.
“No Sir” There was a hint of confusion in her voice, unsure as to why he was asking.
“It is an Articuno, the freeze pokémon. And also one of the so called ‘Legendary species’. Magnificent, isn’t it?
For a second Katelyn just looked at him in surprise. She knew that Team Obsidian did occasionally get hold of legendary pokémon, but she was still confused as to why she had been called to see it. “Yes it is, Sir....” she paused, wondering whether or not she should ask about her purpose here, but before she could the masked man held out an ultra ball to her.”Sir?”
“One of the reason ‘legendary pokémon’ are called such are because of their resistance to capture. They will only go into the ball if they want to. So far this one refuses to hence the cage”
“I’m sorry Sir, I don’t know why you are telling me this” The girl was looking at the ball, confusion written on her face.
“I’m telling you this because I want you to get it into the ball. It will be useful on your journey, will it not?” Before she could reply he placed the ball in her hands, and began to walk out gesturing to the other scientists to follow. “We will leave you alone. With your abilities there is a chance it will listen to you. Don’t disappoint me”
As they left Katelyn just stared a t the ball in her hands, before looking up to the pokémon in front of her, the man’s last words ringing in her ears.
”Don’t disappoint me.”---------------
It wanted to get out. Not being able to spread its wings, to fly away, was torture to the pokémon. All the humans milling around it, observing it didn’t help either. Already they’d tried several times to force into one of the spherical contraptions the humans used but it resisted. It didn’t want to be a slave.
The Articuno let out another screech, before realising something. All the humans had left. All except one, one it hadn’t seen before. For the first time it stopped struggling, curious about the girl that now stood in front of it. Its eyes took in the yellow and black sphere in her hands, but she was different than the others that had used them, unsure, nervous.
For a while the pair just looked at each other, until the girl looked away, her hand tightening around the ball at the same time, yet she still didn’t use it. Why?
~You. Why don’t you try and enslave me like the others?~ The chirped words came out before the pokémon could remind itself humans didn’t understand. At least not normally.
“Because it won’t work” The reply, though in human surprised the bird. How had she understood?
~You can understand? And why then do you stand before me with that device~
“Yes. And while I cannot forcefully catch you, I am expected to find a way to otherwise convince you”
~Why do they expect you to do what others older cannot? You are different aren’t you~ The girl flinched as the ice pokémon finished it’s sentence, confirming its thoughts. However it was still surprised when the child reached up and removed the clothe that was wrapped around her head, showing a pair of horns.
“I am part pokémon, part Houndoom. That is why I can understand you, why they think I can catch you”
Articuno tilted its head, trying to take in the statement. ~ Part pokémon? Did those humans...make you like this? Who are they? What do they want?~
For a while the girl didn’t reply, instead looking around the room as if avoiding looking at the pokémon in front of her. “Yes they did...” Her words were quite when she finally answered. “They are part of a group called Team Obsidian, as I am. They wish to use you in their plans. That man...he was the leader.”
~ You...you are one of them? Do you want to be?~
“I was ‘made’ to be one of them. As for if I want to be... I don’t know” She looked away again as she answered, seemingly confused about her feelings.
~If you don’t ‘catch’ me what will happen? Will someone else try~
“Yes. They will try and force you. You are too...rare to let go off. They will try to break you.”
The articuno thought other her words, curious about the girl, but also scared of this ‘organization’ it appeared to be in the grips of. ~Do...do you want to catch me?~
The question seemed to startle the girl, and she struggled for an answer. “I...I don’t know. If I don’t he’ll be angry, but I don’t want to do something you don’t want...”
The Articuno got the feeling there was something that wasn’t being said, a reason why she was following the masked mans wishes, despite her obvious reluctance. Yet it felt closer to her than the other humans, those that tried to force it while instead she was speaking to it, and seemed to care about how it thought. What is your name?~
Again he question came at a surprise. “Katelyn. Why?”
~I might as well know the name of the trainer I will let catch me~ Seeing the disbelief on her face it continued. ~You, you are different. Not just because you are part pokémon, but because... you won’t force me. You say that if you don’t catch me, others will try, until they find a way. If capture is inevitable, it might as well be to someone who actually appears to care about me~ Even as it spoke it wondered if the entire conversation had been a facade, a trick, but it forced itself to trust her. It seemed to be the best option. ~I will let you catch me, Katelyn~
