Katelyn sighed as she looked at the two pokemon standing in front of her, two more pokeballs clutched in her hands. She couldn't deny the feeling of excitement that ran through her as she watched them. After all they were her pokemon, the first step on her journey. Yet at the same time she couldn't help but feel she was starting out with a strong advantage. Most trainers had to make do with one, at least at the start, while on the other she had four...
Suddenly one of the pokemon, who had previously been sniffing the air shifted it's head to meet her gaze, a curious look on it's face. It resmbled a large rat with short legs and a small horn of it's head. Noticing he was looking at her it ran over jumping into her arm, forcing her to release a small chuckle. Scratching a figer behind one of her large ears she looked at it, a light smile on her face.
It was the one she had recieved from the doctor, her official starter. She'd recognised it upon release as a Nidoran, and was already becoming fond of it and it's eager nature. "Roia..." The word slipped from her lips, as she held it close to her, while her eyes wandered to the other pokemon out, who was staring at her.
A Larvitar, according to her pokedex, it had surprised her when it had appeared from the pokeball. They were rare, and many trainers prized their evolved forms. Especially one trainer in particular. As she fixed his eyes with her own, her mind went back to the note that had been released along with it.
"Don't need this. Don't lose to any idiots"
It had been short and simple, but even so it had confirmed who'd given it to her. What she didn't understand completely was why, but then again she'd never properly understood her reasons for anything.
Sighing she held Roia in one arm, and outstreched the other to the green pokemon. It just looked at her and turned its head, causing her smile to drop. Even has her attitude She thought to herself as she tried not to get disheartened."Kuro" She spoke out loud. It turned it's head slightly, just enough to watch her from the corner of his eye, but didn't say anything.
Sighing she looked away. If it didn't trust her right now there was little she could do except prove she cared about it, and something like that took time. She learned that a long time ago.
Holding the other two pokeballs in front of her she sighed. Inside the yellow and black one was the strongest of her team. The Articuno, upon letting her catch it had claimed it was going to rest, now it was no longer fighting to get away. As she recalled the memory she felt a pang in her chest, feeling guilty that the only way for it to get haway had been for it to come with her.
Then there was the other pokeball. She turned her gaze to it, thinking about when she had released the pokemon inside, the one that had been a gift from Kairi. If anyting she'd been more surprised than she had been with the Larvitar, but for a completely different reason. The sight of a red and orange fish flapping helplessly up and down on the path had stunned her, as well as forced her withdraw it almost imediatly.
She knew about Magikarp. The supposedly weakest pokemon in exsistance. At least she knew how Karen had been able to get hold of it so easily. No one would miss it, which made her feel slightly sorry for the pokemon. Along with the unfortunate name that had been bestowed up it. Bubbles. Sighing yet again, she clipped the two pokeballs to her belt and wrapped her second arm around the Nidoran she was still holding.
"No point in dwelling on it I guess" She spoke partly to herself, but also partly to the pokemon in her arms, who tilted her head partially at her trainer. In response the pokemorph smiled at her then lifted her head to lokk at the path in front of them.
I guess it would be better if I just train here, instead of catching any more for now[/color] She nodded to herself as she checked her tail was still hidden, along with her horns. Her other pokemon features, while also currently hidden, could be passed off as some kind of jewllery if necessary, so she wasn't as paranoid about them.
Satisfied she would pass as normal she looked down at Roia again, a small smile on her lips. "Guess we'd better get going" She started walking, Kuro wandering behind slolwy, keeping an eye out for any potential threats of battles.
